Threads like this are always tricky because people are going to vote along region lines. So if you prefer east coast rap, you'll say Rza.

Having said that, this ain't that kind of thread. If you make a thread talking about Quik is better than Rza I'd at least entertain the thought. Might not even disagree depending on how the argument was presented.

But Mannie Fresh? :what:

Dude is a hip-hop producer and in his prime he couldn't even use samples because Baby was too cheap to pay for them. I'm :manny: if people like old CMR songs but a gang of them got really cheap sounding beats because of this.

So what's the cut off for a classic album then? Gold? Platinum?
Is it necessary to even listen to the music, or just wait for the RIAA to tell us when the album is classic?

Anybody can claim an album or music single is a "classic" which is why sales numbers (along with other assessments) have & will always be used as one of the deciding, determining factors of any G.O.A.T albums or songs in rap, especially when making comparisons between other hip hop artists & their music regardless of whether or not you dislike this fact.

Only state or regional dikkriders who aren't capable of appreciating hip hop from other areas of the U.S or worldwide do this. And I'm not from the south or have never lived there, but can still appreciate Manny Fresh as an legendary hip hop producer.

DJ Quik IS better than RZA as an producer, there isn't a comparison needed!

Which makes all the success of what Mannie Fresh did under Cash Money much more amazing, especially considering Baby didn't want to spend money on samples & Manny Fresh had to create his hits from basically scratch which shows his true talent as a legit producer.

You just said sales were the ultimate factor.
Now you're saying they are one of many deciding determining factors. :dwillhuh:
Which is it?
