There was a definitely a drop during those years. The Afro Sam soundtrack kind of redeemed him but then he goes back into his euro experimental bag.
Tbh I mostly checked out on him after the second wave of solo albums but I respect that he tried new things rather than put out an endless string of redundant projects to diminishing returns.

Once I read that there's only a couple of Wu Tang albums.

They start from 36 Chambers - include Gravediggaz and stop at Supreme Clientele.

He can change and evolve.

Personally I prefer his sample work with dusty drum loops and soul samples.

It all kinda stopped at Supreme Clientele - and he only had a few beats on there.

I want him to do sample work.

But some artists don't listen to fans. He's great and I appreciate that someone straight up asked him about this.

Edit

His piano playing sounds very clean!

That's great.

I'm actually learning piano now to enhance my production. I have two books, but have been lazy.

I'm committed to learning however.

I liked what he was doing on Forever, and what he did on The W

But I'd be lying if I said that I ever gravitated to the keyboardy Bobby Digital sound - I always hated it and it felt like such a step down from the production he gave us in the initial run and sprinkled in his later beats sometimes

I've always said, if you have "it" in Hip-Hop, learning music theory and becoming a "proper musician" is a bad thing. RZA is the exception because he's RZA and isn't limited to rap. Every other time they become wack or lose their funk.
