One of the "better centers", happy? At the time of the trade Vlad was only 27 and a top 7 center in the league. Just the season before the trade he put up 16/10/4/2. That's all-star caliber numbers. He wasn't going to make the all-star team back then, because Hakeem and Robinson played in the West
My point is that he was never a franchise altering player. He was a solid player, but wasn't leading anybody to a championship. It wasn't like trading Shaq. There was a large gap between him and the elite centers in the game.

It's like the Bulls trading Luol Deng this year. He's a good player, but nowhere near the elite SFs in the league and he isn't changing anyone's destiny.

People acting like Mitch hasn't been acquiring talented players that haven't had a chance to blossom like Ariza, Shannon Brown, Earl Clark, Jordan Hill, Xavier Henry, etc...the list goes on. He's a great GM that isn't afraid to gamble because he's trying to win championships.

The Nash and Howard scenario just happened to have just about everything that could have gone wrong happen, but you have to admit those were some ballsy moves that other teams would never pull off. Hell, look at this past trade deadline. If the Thunder, Blazers, Suns, etc were really trying to win a championship they could have traded some 1st round picks for Pau and it would have been a wrap but they aren't bout that life. :manny:

He can be short-sighted and doesn't normally value picks...yes...and do you really want a front office that tries to tank? As a fan, I root for it lol. But it would be disgraceful to the Laker legacy if they start acting like the Sixers and shyt IMO

And the point is even though he wasn't a franchise altering player, the trade at that time was viewed as a clear win for the Charlotte Hornets.

but whatever I aint shortsighted and I remember all the teriible moves Mitch made and how hewas viewed pre-Gasol like it was yesterday. I'm not saying he's terrible but he is average as fukk. He's also the same dude who was telling people how he couldn't work with Jim Buss anymore and was thinking about leaving 2 years ago.

Lotta revisionist history going on in here. None of you were trashing Mitch when he traded for CP3 or Dwight/Nash. Fact of the matter is that Buss forcing the Pringles hire instead of Phil is what fukked this franchise up and left them where they're at now.
