The way i see it is this

New York hip hop is hard, gritty, simple beats, being competitive, telling your story, mcing, etc

Southern hip hop is more lets party and have fun and be best friends, over exaggerated lies, more about production, etc

I have and always will like and relate more to New York hip hop

the south has a much better structure for new artists to make it and their music has a much higher entertainment value
