The spread of COVID-19 should be put squarely on the shoulders of the airline industry.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
International flights out of China shouldn’t been halted immediately.

Once it got to the US, all airline travel should’ve been banned.

Even this last surge has been caused by a surge in air travel over the holidays.

they stayed open this entire time and still get billions in bailout money.

The decision to let airline travel continue through out the entire pandemic has essentially helped spread the virus at a rapid pace which has also prolonged this longer than it needed to be.

Federal government you mean. Borders should have been closed.

True. But I’m talking about after it was too late for that. They closed the boarders, after it was already hear.

What caused it to spread like wildfire is the airports.

Recently, I flight from Haiti to Quebec had passengers who were exposed to COVID.

The government also fukked up with the whole “self” quarantine nonsense like people were going to really follow it.

You are approaching it from the angle that at the time 8t was reported in Wuhan it had not spread across the world already, and that might be the wrong assumption. It has probably already spread, and people were finally taking it seriously.

Companies are going to do what's in the best interest for themelves. The government has to do what's in the best interest of the people and we all know that didn't happen. I expect companies to look at $$$$ and act accordingly. So the blame is and has always been on the government. Airlines aren't going to crater their business voluntarily when the government is sittign there with their heads up their asses.

Look at Canada...took so fukking long to close the borders from the US, but still letting flights in and "hoping" people quarantine. Government fukked up so bad in so many countries.

Do you have numbers to back up your claims? I’ve flown twice during the pandemic and they are taking the needed safety measures on these flights.

Family and friends gathering is when all precautions go out of the window. I would guess this is how the disease is spread the most. But that’s a guess, I’m too lazy to research right now.

When you flew, did they hand out snacks and beverages?

Yeah. Atleast in business class. But everything is pre packaged. They hand you a package of snacks and a can or bottle of your preferred beverage. Everyone is masked ho and wipes are widely available.

Huh yeah.

there were spikes in Covid contractions in the weeks following holiday breaks. Most recently thanksgiving and Christmas.

Say you have Covid but you’re not showing any symptoms. You fly and reach your destination. You give it to a relative. They go to church or work or be around people after you leave. That’s how it spreads. A lot of people don’t wear masks or wash their hands or sanitize all the time.

Instead of outbreaks being contained locally, it spreads from state to state city to city town to town because of the ease of travel. If you got Covid and want to travel from Florida to Colorado, you probably won’t drive if that was your only option.

If the airline industry is bailed out, they need to be shut down as well with the mandate of creating safer planes with more space and have government relegations.
