I was at the park and observed a father pushing his daughter on a swing. At one point he left her to the whim of the pendulum and sat in the swing next to her. Slowly she started to regress to the normal position that gravity dictated. I started to think about gravity and how it is inexhaustible, just as the other fundamental forces are. I considered that in their permanency, they defined the state of things. They were the matrix, if you will, within which all this happened. it seemed to me also that gravity mocked man's audacious sense of self-determinism, derived from the mercurial and diaphanous nature of thought and our proclivity to confuse ourselves with the hologram that is thought.
