How can institutionalized racism be a "theory" when there are hundreds of documented state and federal laws that perpetuated racism. That's fact. racism is fact.

Laws have evolved, but the ones that birthed what has become a divided country are well documented. It's history and should be taught as such.

Calling it a theory opens up shyt for interpretation and is probably why it's become so polarizing.

Names matter. Dumb name, but it's too late to change it.

Pick up a book. You’re doing the white man’a work, I bet you’re a Republican too with the way you’re pulling shyt out of your ass.

The reason why it’s called Critical Race Theory is because it has academic origins. It literally addresses everything you’ve said.

It is developed from Critical Theory. Do the fukking research. Stop spreading disinformation, like an Uncle Tom ass c00n.

It’s just a way for white supremacists to try and stifle the education of the youth on just how factually and institutionally racist, oppressive, and demonic they were to non-whites for hundreds of years.

Country was stolen with genocide and built on slavery and oppression. All they can do is put their fingers in their ears, close their eyes, and say “nuh uuhhhhhh”

Did you?

Better yet, did you even read my post in its entirety to see why I quoted Critical Theory as one of its origins in academia?

Nah seriously, did you? Give me the definition right now. Oh that’s right, you can’t :mjlol:

You out here arguing meaningless semantics like a racist MAGA hat wearing white woman at a school board meeting, evaluate your life :heh:

While critical theorists have often been called Marxist intellectuals, their tendency to denounce some Marxist concepts and to combine Marxian analysis with other sociological and philosophical traditions has resulted in accusations of revisionism by Orthodox Marxist and by Marxist–Leninistphilosophers. Martin Jay has said that the first generation of critical theory is best understood not as promoting a specific philosophical agenda or ideology, but as "a gadfly of other systems."[32]

Critical theory has been criticized for not offering any clear road map to political action (praxis), often explicitly repudiating any solutions (as with Marcuse's "Great Refusal", which promoted abstaining from engaging in active political change).[33]

key word marxist. So an opponent of crt can simply say it’s Marxist propaganda. This is from your own link.

Except this is Critical Theory, not CRITICAL RACE THEORY. Two entirely different frameworks. You asked why it’s named Critical Race theory, I explained that Critical Theory is one of its origins due to ACADEMIA. That does NOT mean they are the same thing or even related beyond both being critical of large systems of power.

This is a uniquely black creation that has been developing for over 40 years.

And you’re literally trying to argue a WHITE SUPREMIST TALKING POINT

Useless semantics, throwing around the Communism boogeyman like you just got done voting for Regan. Here’s the explanation from one of the main creators.

Again, you’re doing the white mans work for him.

Claim 2: “Critical Race Theory is Marxism”
One of the most common criticisms leveled by some conservatives against critical race theory, or CRT, is that it’s Marxism by another name.

“CRT is simply identity-based Marxism, based solely on the color of one’s skin,” Rep. Matt Lockett (R-Nicholasville) told a state legislative committee in early July. Lockett is a primary sponsor of a bill that would limit discussions about racism in public schools and universities.

Anti-critical race theory activists point to what many scholars see as an important antecedent of critical race theory: critical legal studies, which in turn draws on the writings of Michel Foucault, Max Weber and—yes—Karl Marx.

According to the authors of Critical Race Theory: Key Writings That Formed The Movement, critical race theory formed in the 1980s, when a group of scholars of color broke off from their white, leftist colleagues in critical legal studies.

“Critical race theory sort of breaks off from critical legal studies, because critical legal studies didn’t really conceptualize race,” University of Louisville Law School professor Cedric Powell said.

Where critical legal theorists saw laws as primarily reflecting and sustaining class interests, critical race theorists argued that laws construct and maintain a racial power hierarchy.

“It sort of draws upon this underlying notion of class, this underlying notion of power and social control, and takes that and critiques the criminal law, which is supposed to be neutral, but looked at its impact on subordinating people of color,” Powell said.

For example, Powell said, a critical race theorist may look at the overrepresentation of Black people in jails and prisons as evidence that criminal laws are “deeply implicated in sustaining racial subordination.”

But does the fact that critical race theory draws on the writings of Karl Marx make it Marxism?

Powell says no.

“To say that it is totally Marxist is absolutist. I think any academic discipline draws on different theories,” he said.

Furthermore, highlighting critical race theory’s ties to Marxism is a familiar scare tactic, says Nikki Brown, history professor at the University of Kentucky.

“If you’re a historian of the civil rights movement, that sounds eerily familiar because many civil rights activists, including Martin Luther King, were accused of being Communists because they wanted equality.”

Critical race theorists are not calling for a violent overthrow of the government, as has been suggested by some conservatives.

“Critical race theory calls for the dismantling of structural inequality,” Powell said. “Critical race theorists believe in the government. They just believe that if the government is making all of these promises, it should certainly keep them. And they haven’t kept them.”

You shouldn’t have to explain or debate about actual facts. Not this much.

And I’m ignoring you now.

In emperical/scientific fields "theory" doesnt mean the same thing it does in odinary convo. "Theory" in ordinary convo is no better than a hunch/hypothesis.

Theory in academic matters, is a large body of hypothesis and observations that have stood the test of time after repeated reflections/challenges by peers in that academic field of interest. You'd be suprised how many common sense concepts are still theories. For example, in academic discourse, "gravity" is still a theory. Same could be said for the common sense "oxygen theory of combustion" which simply states that oxygen can stoke a flame or the "theory of heleocentrism" which states that we do indeed orbit the sun.

So because CRT came from academia, just like these other theories , it is still phrased using academic lexicon.

CRT comes out of Critical Theory, so you need broader context to understand the name, as well as knowing what marks critical theory different from traditional theory.

Additionally, it was not expected that CRT would be rolling off the tongues of the pedestrian public, so our thoughts on “best use of the term” is neither here nor there.

Well duh. Plus looking at it from a PR point of view, it sounds like some ominous foolishness.

This is why MAGA folks are so successful in using it to activate their base.

This more than anything is why them fool democrats about to get beat like a cheating hoe in these next elections.
