Nobody says they started punk.
But the Ramones were easily the most influential.
And the Clash (my personal favorite band ever) are hard to really call a punk rock group. The Clash dabbled in lots of music. Paul Simonon was really into reggae. Mick Jones was into hip hop. Topper Headon had a jazz background. And Joe Strummer was into all types of world music.
The Sex Pistols are lame goons and frauds.
I see what you're saying.I fukk with the Clash too so my post was no slight to them (The Sex Pistols are trash and the Ramones are okay i guess), but i just hate it how A Band Called Death never gets mentioned for being one of the early punk bands. shyt kills me

Think one of main reasons is that protopunk bands aren't technically considered punk. they're seen as predecessors to punk bands(correct me if im wrong)

Gone down a rabbit hole and they have an interesting story. Lead singer clowned Pink Floyd (my favorite rock band), The Who, etc for playing black people's blues in really crappy way and getting success of it. While I think he's wrong on their talent he was kinda spittingNobody says they started punk.
