Phife is dope but if he did mean what the IG dude said he meant, that was no value added to the bar.
Just taken at face value, the bar is decent. The backstory dude tried to apply doesn't make it any better.
The best punchlines are ones that can be understood easily, or maybe after a few listens. If it takes enough time for a baby to be born, grow up, and decipher then it sort of fails as a punchline.
But here's one that took me a few listens but is crazy
I bust a nut inside your eye.. to SHOW you where I COME from.

I hear what you are saying but Hip Hop has always had those moments where a rapper could spit some inside info punchline shyt that people don't catch till later. I'll give you 2 examples.
1) It wasn't till messageboards that I learned that a lot of people didn't catch the NYC 5% lingo in a lot of those Wu Tang lines so when they said "Father You See King the police, they didn't catch that it spelled F U C K the police.
2) When Sticky dissed 50 Cent on Jacking For Beats he closed it by saying "Matter fact, you ain't even half the mans ya mom's was"
At the time I thought the line was weak on some 4th grade shyt but it wasn't till years later, we learned about 50 and learning about his mom that the line made sense and was actually slick.
