Arabs? I thought it was the Turks, correct me if im wrong. Thanks.

You're probably thinking of the siege in 1453. The siege referred to here is the one that took place during the initial wars of Arab expansion

Now that I think about it, Constantinople actually got besieged on numerous occasions. Probably why the city was famous for its walls

88s unfortunate trolling aside, this is a great thread

I grew up with the narrative of Muslims as victims, and that imperialism was a one way street

and while there is no questio today Muslims are for the most part victims, and imperialism today exists at their expense, i also have to put this in context

there has always been a power dynamic in this regard. it was imperialism when turks marauded across europe, or when the arabs went into north africa, or when the turko mongols went into india

That's true but why does it have to be Muslims? Why isn't it inconsequential that the Turks or Arabs we're Muslims? How did Muslims benefit from the Turks conquests? We never frame Colonialism in the context of Christian Imperialism so this is disingenious nonsense by the OP regardless. Muslims aren't and weren't always victims but to frame the conquests of various unrelated peoples as Muslim Crusades thereby trying to link them to the actual Crusades is nonsense.

it could very well be

its hard not to look at a rising India with hundreds of nuclear weapons and not think centuries of afghan, and turkish and persian islamic fukkery is not on their mind to some degree. that shyt is never far from the surface, the indian political scene provides many examples
