And after Rome fell and Europe went into obscurity, it was the Italians that lifted them out again with the Renaissance. Both times of course it was because Italy was close enough to Africa and the Middle East to absorb what was going on in those places and bring it back to Europe (the same places they’re horrified to accept refugees from today ) but I digress. Cacs in other parts of Europe owe like 70% of their history to the Italians. You can’t expect racist bigots to think logically though.
