America (ie white america) has always feared the black man, in my opinion. That's why he's been beaten down, targeted and hunted since his ancestors were brought over here for cheap labor. In some folks' eyes, we'll ALWAYS be 3/5 of a man.
We hurt ourselves, but crime is usually committed within the community, regardless of race. There's no excuse for it at all, I acknowledge that, but there's no reason we're DISPROPORTIONATELY represented in the criminal justice system. Why is it that "routine" encounters with law enforcement end in loss of black lives in such lopsided levels?
It's systemic in this culture, we're less than 100 years from riots, hoses, dogs, church bombings, lynchings, all of the evils that came during that time. That means there are people, my relatives that lived through that...don't ever forget that...where was that "what about black on black crime?" then? It's a class and race war, be careful friends...
