Scientists debate the seriousness of problems with the value of the Hubble Constant
:ohhh:

Astronomers, astrophysicists and particle physicists gathered recently at the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of California to discuss the seriousness of differing measurements of the Hubble Constant. They met to talk about a problem that has become a major concern in astrophysics—figuring out how fast the universe is actually expanding.

Estimates of its value based on studying the light emitted from the Big Bang differ from those calculated using data from supernovas. Put a simpler way, researchers using data from studies involving the oldest history of the universe have calculated a different value for the Hubble Constant than those involved in studying more recent activity. And the reason it has become such a hot topic is because if a reasonable reason for the differences cannot be found, scientists in the field might have to completely rethink how the universe works.

"14 billion years"

I've never believed this.

I believe the Earth is only between 4000-6000 years old. The fact that Western science can even come up with/theorize a figure like 14 billion is completely absurd.

You think dinosaurs disappeared in the last 4000 years?

I'm not scared of an extinction event because the world would be over it's not like you missing something or life was cut short. Literally everyone dies. Sad but comforting at the same time :yeshrug:
I don’t know and don’t really care about the actual age

I’m more concerned on how they know when the sun will transform into a super nova or whatever :lupe:

They say we got another billion years but what if it transforms next week :lupe:

There’s no real time table

The sun would expand before it goes nova and prob consume the planet. What you really need to worry about are solar flares. Those can destroy the atmosphere and we can't predict those.

I do. I know that man lived along side them as ancient pottery and drawings from across the world depicted mankind's interaction with them. I believe they were hunted to extinction but some of them still remain in the form of Alligators/Crocs, Kimodo Dragons, etc. I do not believe they behaved the way the white man has theorized as depicted in works such as Jurassic Park.

Lemme guess the first Pharaoh came from a distant star and beamed Earth from his mouth to rule :mjlol:
