Why would Utah do this? Do they think Paul George is gonna bounce back at 35? This trade makes no sense for them.
Looks like they're panicking. The #3 pick comes with PG. If they tank again and don't get AJ Dybantsa it's going to get ugly in Utah for the Jazz. And lets be frank, if Bybansta looks legit and could be "that guy", the league isn't going to have him play in Utah period. Get that #3 pick and hope he's(Ace, VJ, Tre, etc) legit, tank for Bybansta, but if you don't get the 1st or 2nd pick you still can sell the #3 pick, PG, Keyonte, etc. to the fanbase and try to win some games.

Don’t the Thunder own the Jazz 2026 pick?

I'm a play devil's advocate here. I think they should just run it back. You already invested in PG13. At least see how the 3 of them work together with a full training camp and season. I know the contract is overpaid. But having George as a 3rd option should work. Now I make this trade only if I know Embiid is done and won't be healthy again or I can get a quality and cheaper replacement starting at the 3 spot.
