Was Rappin Ron. Most outside of the Bay Area never heard of him but he was the best lyricist to ever come out of the Bay Area. He's the most respected MC to ever come from the Bay. He died back in 97 but dude was the fukking truth. Dude destroyed both of the Luniz (Yukmouth, Num) in a battle by himself.

:whew:

It's sad how Rappin Ron and Mac Dre and Big L all died right before they were about to blow up. At the time Ron died labels were giving record deals to just about everyone from the Bay. 3x Krazy just got their deal and so did Seagram.

true but mac dre was already doin big thangs when he passed

rappin ron is a beast, but the best lyricists out the west coast=ras kass, del, kam, paris, crooked i, prime kurupt, and x-raided off top
I respectfully disagree. That's like comparing Big L to nikkas like Chino XL or Canibus. I relate more to Big L's content so to me he was the more clever MC.

Not really. He was a year away from being a household name nationwide imo. He was big in the Bay and the Midwest. Once that "I'm Feeling Myself" took off labels would've gave Thizz a Cash Money type of deal.

Mr. ILL was dope as fukk too. Once you really listen to what he was saying and get past his voice dude was nice as fukk and would've been respected by NYC had they heard him

Cash Money type deal...eeehh...unless he had a major co-sign...that and national radio push. Clear Channel was just getting back on playing local Bay music and Dre was able to ride that hype thru Big Von, Mind Motion, Scotty Fox etc....and still had to pay for spins more than likely.:manny:

You got a link to that CellBlock Compilation?
