That area is an even hotter market with SoFi being nearby. SoFi will have its own ecosystem of businesses that black folks might not even be around to enjoy.

That’s crazy to me. Considering all the violence in the 90s. Was the westside ever as violent as the east? Did the small pockets of poverty on the westside make just as much noise as the east? Was there an “understanding” that the wealthier black areas of the westside would remain free of the riff raft, while the pockets of adjacent rougher neighborhoods on the westside bore the brunt of all the socio economic problems and violence?

TBH if you think about it i don't think so. I remember knowing the eastside and watts were different and even looked more run down that the westside. I think the black middle class just moved to the westside and held on to their businesses longer than the eastside did. Plus the location of the westside makes it even better vs in the east you closer to downtown and etc which used to be dead back in the day.

Vermont Vista and Vermont Knolls is the original west side




Crenshaw was something like a city until the o’fays started moving that redline

So Vermont Vista was basically as far “West” as South Central went?
