I didn't see people in the media telling people to hoard toilet paper. I saw them tell people not to go to large crowds and to stay at home to help flatten the curve and not overwhelm heathcare workers by unknowingly infecting more vulnerable people. But people dismissed that as "fear mongering." I'm not denying that the media hypes things up but some people are using the media as a scapegoat for their own stupidity and unwillingness to do things that will inconvenience them
