Because it describes a lot of things in this day and age. Mediocrity is rewarded too much.

mediocre parents raising mediocre kids
mediocre politicians in positions of power
mediocre teachers molding, and raping, students
mediocre food accepted as sustenance
mediocre businesses valued in billions

just enough shouldnt ever be good enough. mediocre is unacceptable.

You are an idiot.

Within the definition of the word mediocre is the word average. Think about that for a moment.

Ladies and gentlemen, observe a mediocre post. Look at how confidently this person is in their wrong assertion.

But let's say I indulge you and didn't choose my words wisely. Is average acceptable? If your doctor got average scores on their board exams, would you be comfortable with their diagnosis? How about your lawyer; is an average lawyer dependable if you're on trial? What exactly was the purpose of your mediocre reply?

What does the word moderate mean?

You are an idiot who did not think this thread through. You did not think your example through.

Average is acceptable. You used doctors and lawyers as an example without appreciating that thresholds are in place to ensure competencies and that they are average in a specific context.

You cannot come to the realisation that mediocre people will always exist because its definition is roo

We aren't talking about moderate, are we? We're talking about mediocre. The definition is plainly in front of you. Of moderate or low quality. Maybe you want the Cambridge definition instead?

mediocre

adjective
-disapproving

UK

/ˌmiː.diˈəʊ.kər/ US

/ˌmiː.diˈoʊ.kɚ/
not very good:

The film's plot is predictable and the acting is mediocre.
Parents don't want their children going to mediocre schools.

mediocre

You can be obtuse and pretend that mediocre isn't often used as an adjective for low quality if you want. But I live in the real world where mediocrity isn't "average" or "moderate", it's bad and unacceptable.

You didn't respond to my questions. Let me be direct and disregard your mistaken idea that mediocre and average are the same, then. If a mediocre doctor assessed you, would you trust their diagnosis? How about a mediocre lawyer defending you in a criminal case? Would you trust that lawyer to defend you?

It seems you're hurt by this topic. Are you tired of being called mediocre in real life? Did I hit a sore spot, breh? :mjcry:

You are actually an idiot.

I asked if you knew what the word moderate means because your response gave me the impression that you did not realise the word is synonymous with the word average.

You tried checking me on bringing up averages when the definition you provided says what I'm saying.

You would do well to look up what the word "very" means also. There is a reason why the definitions you have been running through point towards something that is of average quality, not something that is of poor quality.

And your question is idiotic. It depends on what I am asking them to assess. The question you should be asking yourself is what would happen if you removed the average lawyer and what would happen if you removed the average doctor.

People like you don't think things through. You have such a knee jerk reaction to anything that looks like a participation trophy that you cannot assess things objectively.

I thought it was common knowledge that what is mediocre will determined by the population considered. I guess not.

You're not very intelligent, are you...
All you've done is repeat what has happened so far in this thread, as if I wasn't present or something, made a baffling obvious statement about averages, move goal posts -- despite kind concessions to your argument to allow more clarity, and ad hominem. You're stuck on semantics...in like the most confusingly moronic way. I didn't mince my words. Mediocre is not a good thing; to argue otherwise is the apex of stupidity. :skip:

Maybe you would "do well" to recognize the importance of self-awareness and critical thinking. All you've provided to this bizarre argument is glib at best and...mediocre.

lol like what am i even reading here. who the fukk argues in favour of mediocrity. you literally proved my thesis correct...how can someone lack such self-awareness :mjlol:not wasting energy on a contrarian. wallow in mediocrity if you want, breh.

Your thread isn't as successful as you thought it would be, isn't it?

This is life. Almost everyone is in the middle, no matter if they don't realize it or deny it. Those at one of the extreme ends are given platitudes, parking spaces and charity drives. Those at the other end are totally misunderstood, alienated and often scare those in the middle due to their evident difference and what it says about the herds spectacular averageness.

Most people are truly interchangeable and very basic thanks to the system of processing they've been through, media influences of the time and various other methods of perception management. Note most of this is never questioned hence why they are like this. Why? Because it suits the interests of those who are running game on the entire world.

your last point is kind of the genesis of this thread. why is mediocrity acceptable. even if, lets say, the ones who run the game prefer most people to stay within the 34% range of the distribution curve. at any given time, in any arena, there will be a point of diminishing returns. so why not establish mechanisms that skew in the direction of excellence and reap even more benefits in the long-term than skew mediocre and reap benefits in the short term. for example, think of your favourite show or film. there's a good chance it will be remade. but it will be done poorly. the impetus behind its remake is that it appealed to you and millions of others. but in trying to remake it to yield repeated success, it fails instead because there is a point of diminishing returns. you no longer have that feeling you did for the remake as you did for the original. the remake is a facsimile and mediocre as a result. the original was exactly that, and remarkable, but eventually made its way to average and then mediocre by way of a remake :francis:
