GameCube was arguably the best time to own a Nintendo device. They were in the ring fighting with all the consoles. I fukked with it, some of their ports were bar none the best versions.

I understand their stance now but Nintendo is at their best when they’re fighting for attention

There is no competition for Nintendo because there are no other IP's on the same planet as Mario and Zelda. Nintendo is engrained into gamers brains in a way sony and microsoft could never be because of how much longer they been around.

If Nintendo matched PS5/Series X graphics and power, added the big multiplats like GTA, Madden, Elden Ring etc., but still had Mario and Zelda.......

I know they love that handheld, portability aspect but it would be cool to see them push the limit.

It's like Sony and Microsoft make sports cars while Nintendo makes SUV's. We'd all like to see them try their hand at making another super car.

they legitimately compete against themselves in the market space between high powered home consoles, PC, and mobile games - and if they weren't actively refining themselves in that space, they would've gone ass up under their own weight

i dont know. console manufacturers sure, but im pretty sure sega and namco have characters that rival mario
