I remember reading about it. I always thought it referred to the PS1, as well. It looks nice, especially for its time.

People use PSX and PS1 interchangeably all the time

People used to say Playstation and PSX interchangeably all the time. But they weren't very accurate in calling it that.

PSX was an addon for the Super Famicom (SNES) but was scrapped because Nintendo opted to work with another company rather than Sony so they split.

People never said PSone until the actual PSone came out.

"PS-X (PlayStation Experimental)" was the codename for the Playstation while it was still in development but why people still call it that is a wonder to me. It's just like calling the gamecube "Project Dolphin", which is just silly.

Surprised that gamers that were gaming during that time didn't know about this (the dvr), gaming magazines covered it.

iirc, psx was the codename before the release.
