I salute them on that, DOS need to stick together and make the USA, Europe and West Africa pay for what they did to us.

Reparations and recognition and investigation of the Transatlantic Slave Trade as the biggest generator of poverty should be a global movement. The world needs to pay what they owe to us.

If American DOS gotta lead the way of redefining the Diaspora in terms of lineage and not physical features or a common continental origin, then so be it.

The more of us Afro-Latinos, West Indians, and Black Americans push this descendant of slaves thing, better off we will be as a diaspora.

This is why second generation immigrants shake our heads at this foolishness they do :snoop:

The difference is that there is not a vast community of other black immigrants and immigrants in general like the Kamala Harris going to America and using resources while pretending to be down for the cause and leeching off and never giving back while pretending to be Black American for benefits.

That is a very good point and i didnt think about that. But the thing is that these people are largely tribal and they are just doing this now to get at Black Americans in spite. I would cosign it to the fullest :salute: if they were using this to call out the French, Britain, Germany, Belgium, Spain, etc to give them the money they owe. Especially with the Queen...i can never understand why Caribbeans still mess with her and that she is gonna die without them ever pushing for reparations.

I don't think one tweet clarifying their origins qualifies as a movement :heh:

If it IS becoming a movement, and one where there's an accord with one another targeting our European oppressors, then my outlook on DOS will change completely... But if it's gonna be some more crabs in a barrel diaspora wars and sniping at each other then y'all can all go fo hell :camby:

Above the fray.
OP,

Social media is a wasteland 99% of the time and is dumbing people down.

Any Haitian reading this will tell you that President Aristide was pushing for reparations from France in the 1990s.

They will also tell you that it was 10% sincere effort on his part, and 90% meant to manipulate the public and distract them from his poor performance as a leader and the failure of his policies.

None of these "ideas" or "movements" are new......except to people who don't read newspapers and books.

For those who won't read for themselves

here is Aristide doubling down on reparations talk in 2003, the year before the Haitian bicentennial

Haitian case is different in the sense that the country would seek repayment of the reparations that Haiti paid to France when they wanted to come back for round 2, years after the revolution.
