Now when a barber starts looking you dead in the face and telling you the base price for a cut is $50 and you got some corporate company plopping down wherever they can afford space because you know damn well most barbershops aren't "black owned" since they don't own the property...what do you think is going to happen?

Its simple economics...my neighborhood alone all the shops looking for people because them chairs are empty

I literally had to fire my barber of the last 3 years due to him raising prices within that time span. It went from 40-50-60 in that period just for a base cut and it got up to $50 for my 8 year old Son. That’s when I had to realize that I lived in a major black metropolitan area and the market for a decent haircut is not that high. My Son and I get the same low wave cut with a taper on the side and back. No parts and no enhancements, just simple cuts. No beard or coloring for me and no crazy cut for him. So I got on the app called “The Cut” and found the closest and highest rated barber to me. I have since cut my cost average down from $110 a week to $60 week for my Son and I and the cuts are faster and just as good of quality. Oh, and the barbershop is closer to my residence.

Thank the gods I picked up a pair of clippers a decade ago. I'd have to pay for my cut and come back later and rob the barber

Learned how to line myself up and was going half as much, once I learned how to fade/taper well enough it was a wrap
No matter how packed the shop is or how retarded these prices get knowing I can go home and pour a 5th of Henn and cut myself up in 35 mins is

I've been cutting my own hair bald since 97. And although I've been wearing a full beard for over 2 years, I still don't feel up to finding a barber. It doesn't feel like I'm gonna click to well with most of them, especially down here in the ATL. After moving from the DMV, I would have thought finding a barber would be easy. Today, it's hard to even find a doctor, dentist, or vet down here, where it don't feel like I'm gonna clash heads with one of them, or one of their staff sooner or later. But I guess that's neither here or there.

Anyway, based on the prices they be charging these days, I'll probably keep doing my own beard as well.

Breh. TheCut is the shyt. That's how I found my barber for the last 2 years. He's based out of Mo City and charge $35 for cut and beard. I'm in and out in 30-35 minutes. Then I go home and get pounced on.
