I completely disagree, there have been plenty of dope female MC's but when they got comparmentalized into arm candy for said hip hop crews, their skill diminished greatly. Furthermore, hip hop is sexist, past the days of Lyte, Latifah, and early Brat...save for a few underground female rappers, I don't know any male who gives women a fair listen (tho, as I've said, a lot of female mc's have come wack).

Jean Grae is the Nas female version to me, she's smart on rhymes, particular flow, ill voice, can sing, very personnal, underrated gems and a solid discography. Then Lauryn even if she's flabby and sick she dropped miseducation so for that alone she's an all time great, then the couple lil kim foxy brown always like them but like their 95 97 smooth gucci gangsta princess style and then lady of rage who technically is a beast

Like I said before.....rapping requires male aggression that women just dont naturally have. The best females emcees have always had a lil dikeyness in them and thats because in order to fit in on the level of a male rapper you have to mock a male rapper. Female rappers have a short life span because as years go by the natural mother instincts kick in and a woman just cant front that same aggression as she gets older. This is why I will always acknowledge Lil Kim.....She was able to have a lasting shelf life and still kept her sexiness regardless of the naysayers who claim that she messed herself up with plastic surgery. Lil Kim is a rarity.
