There will be a single "social media" that will be the digital version of society. And the message board is the template.

We have one social media site for mainly writing. Twitter.

One for mainly pics. Insta.

One for.. like old people to keep up with their out of town family? Whatever Facebook is now.

And one for longer form video (if you consider 7 min long I guess). YouTube. Form here on out known as uTu (don't DARE asked me how).

Eventually all this shyt will merge into one thing. It wont be like a single website, it would be just like when you physically walk outside. The internet is just all around and you go here or there as you stroll and troll along.

What the message board has to offer is structure. I can't use Twitter cause I don't know where to "go" to do shyt. You find a tweet and repost it or comment on it. It's a thread I guess but just a random thread about the same subject as 1000 other random threads on the site.

Here, we try to group everything into separate convos about separate subjects or stories. Ideally, everything everyone wants to say about Clarence Thomas getting his chest shyt on by a billionaire cac who flewed him out... ideally that entire convo is in one easy to find place.

Your profile could have all your pics of food or whatever you are into. The IG, FB kinda model. But hidden from the average user. So not like a FB timeline where new shyt pops up. Just an archive for YOUR content. That people can visit. So there's all your podcast type activity. Within the users profile.

I think the message board - expanded with all the other features of pic archives and video archives - is actually the future. Maybe the Coli can rise to dominate cyberspace someday.

The message board structure is the OG of digital society from the dial-up BBS days.

However, will it be standard? I can't say. Message boards are dying right now since everyone fled to Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc. Young people now really won't know message boards. I think to deep and in-depth communities and sub-cultures the message board will still work.

They're gonna try and are but I don't think it's going to work. They successfully whittled the net down to a few places ppl frequent constantly compared to 15-20 years ago but I don't think it can be funneled down further.

Reddit is a message board tho. Like a mega Uber message board.

It's on the cusp of what I'm describing.

The Coli is just MAD intimate compared to Reddit.

We still call Nap, Nap. Cause we know that Breh. We KNOW he gonna say "I'm not .." (everyone of y'all know the rest). And even see when he posts it by accident on an alt acct.

But Reddit is like an ocean of mfs you don't know.

Social evolution is veering dumber, shorter , quicker…not longer and more in depth. So, no.

Perfect example is the WhatsApp upgrade that included reactions on people’s post. That essentially killed my groupchat. No one engages any more everyone just 👍🏿

So for this new generation who’s growing up on that, and tik tok, etc, having depth and writing more isn’t ‘cool’ . It’s gonna be all emojis, short bursts, quick snarky comments hoping to go viral

Yeah, it’s called the “Metaverse”. Facebook has been working on this for years. It’s going to increase suicide rates even more though because there will be rich and poor people just like in real life. If you don’t establish yourself and obtain “real estate” early on, people will be in poverty, just like real life.
