remember nas used to roll with eric b and rakim occasionally during his come up.

he's talking about eric b, and probably some of eric b's people's who he is/was cool with.

The lake stuff didn't happen till years later, death row was dead by then, and the beef was long over.

Nas and suge been cool since 96.

Death Row was still active just not no where near poppin. They tried to revive it with Lake The Kid being the main artist and Nas for Death Row East but Nas aint like the arrangements or some shyt like that…which kinda led to the rift with lakey and nas

He said he saw his own Gz from NY wearing Deathrow chains during the beef era... He said M.O.B turned half of new York red.

People from that era and that region... Is that facts? I'm surprised nobody brought this up.. Thats a crazy claim

Deathrow was really taking over NY like that?
He's referring to Lakey The Kid who I believe was the supposed head of Death Row east for a bit there I remember.

Idk anything about it but that doesn't sound right. That was Nas's ace before rap fame when he was broke and in the projects, I seriously doubt he'd pull on an extortion attempt on someone like Nas. I think Lake, like most rapper friends who rap, wanted more attention/limelight/opportunity than his talent/work said that he deserved and when Nas wasn't giving him that just off GP alone he felt like Nas was shunning him and got subversive. Lake isn't Nas' only comrade that is a certified gorilla, believe that, aint ever no extortion.

He probably tried to push up on Prodigy tho because he wasn't from there and he went to performing arts school or sumn, probably looked at him like burger.

When he’s talking about some of his own g’s wearing Death Row East tees he’s talking about Lakey The Kid. Prodigy even mentions that during the scuffle that happened between Infamous Mobb and Lakey’s ppl during the 2004 Central Park concert, Lakey and his ppls were wearing Death Row East tees and had to use them as bandages after some of their ppls got poked up. The Death Row chain thing might be because of Eric B and them or a subtle nod to the bounty that was allegedly out on death row chains

This absolutely makes no sense whatsoever, unless Nas just doesn’t give a fukk about the timeline.

The emphasis of the song is during the “height of the beef.” He’s painting a picture of how it was in ‘96. Lakey was locked up during this time. He was released in ‘99. Within the context of the song, and the events that took place in real life, it wouldn’t make sense for him to be referring to Lakey.

Suge didn’t try to start Deathrow East with Lakey until 2006, which was 10 years later. Nas & Lakey fell out prior to the creation of Deathrow East, which Lakey explains in the link below.

Lake Me Against The World - XXL

About a year ago, you had a falling out with Nas. How did that happen?
That was behind us establishing [the record label] Ill Will, and then that not happening. People were depending on me, I was waiting on him, and the people that was waiting on me got caught up in the situation. Federal cases got built up and they went to jail, and one of my friends was killed before they came in and locked the other seven of my homeboys up. So, enough was enough. That was something that can’t be repaired. I can’t just get on and blow and change that situation. Nothing was going to change that. I was done with waiting and dealing with that.

If you want to just make an assumption on who you believe he was talking about, it would definitely have to be Eric B and his people.

@seemorecizzy is right

Deathrow was basically dead, and operating as Tha Row Records, under Reggie Wright. However, I understand if you view them as the same.

I dont know if Death Row influenced them per say but arond the mid to late 90s you started to see a lot of Blood gangs pop in New York. Whether that was Death Row influenced or dudes from Cali flying out to set up shop like they did in the rest of the country it was happening

I remember the Source in 98 started covering it and had a big article on it in the Spring/Summer issue (the one with Ice Cube on the cover promote Players Club)

lake be trying to act like it was nas job to put on the entire goodfella crew.

Nas gave them a look on qb’s finest and 41dt side. Lake was acting like he supposed to write rhymes for the whole hood or some shyt.

Eric B was with Death Row at the Pac meet in NY allegedly and a part of Death Row East... Eric B was moving like Suge before Suge allegedly in the industry. Not really Ra's producer just taking credit from an uncredited Large Pro and even Rakim himself. Nas used to be at Rakim sessions as Erics lil man. Eric rolled with Paid in Full Posse... Gooned Up taking Publishing before the row.

you’re mixing two different eras up

Lakey The Kid was supposed to be on the reinvention of Death Row East in 2004 when he teamed up with Suge

Had nothing to do with the Death Row East Nas is talking about, which was Big D, Eric B and NC Hammer’s brother as CEOs

Lakey The Kid was in jail in 1996

From
mostly Eric B

I don't think Lake was on Death Row East when Pac was alive or during that meet.
From what I remember the deathrow east thing was started many years after pac's death. I think it was during the crooked I era but I could be wrong.
