Chicago, IL- In the wake of all the racially charged issues going on across the country, NBA legend Michael Jordan has announced that he does not want white people to wear his brand shoe. “How does it look when a white man kills an innocent black person wearing Jordans? I am sick and tired of the injustice my people have faced. This is getting out of hand. Hopefully white America will finally get it. They’ll finally realize that just because my skin is darker and my hair is drier that we are all the same and should be treated equally but until then I better not catch a single white person buying those legend blue (columbia) 11s”, explains Jordan.

Retailers across the country are outraged at Michael Jordan’s comments and have decided to halt the release of the year’s most anticipated shoe release. According to Footaction representative, the company has removed the shoe from their line up of hot releases this week and other shoe retailers have followed. “It’s really disappointing that MJ would say that. J’s makes the one function as one, when new shoes release, people of all races come together to camp out and get the shoes, its really a culture itself”, claims a Finishline employee. The Jordan brand has not come forward with any comments regarding MJ’s latest comments. It has been a Jordan brand tradition to release a retro pair of Air Jordan 11s the weekend before Christmas. The “Legend Blues” were slated to release on December 20, 2014. The shoe has gained a lot of press and people have already began lining up in front of retailers for the shoe this week. “We haven’t seen lines like this since Black Friday”, notes a shoe boutique owner. With the growing “sneaker head” community, crimes surrounding the shoe release have also skyrocketed. In 2009, when the Air Jordan 11, dubbed the “Space Jams”, were released, there were 14 murders as a result of the shoe.

Michael Jordan debut he his first shoe under Nike, in 1985. In 1997, Air Jordan broke away from Nike, becoming its own brand. Air Jordan’s retail for about $150 but exclusive pairs have resale values as high as thousands of dollars. Since the release of the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan has released over a 100 pairs of shoes with many color ways.
