I liked both The Village and The Happening. :pacspit: what you nikkas think. I guaran-damn-tee most of you nikkas hating on those films would be singing a different tone if RTs or R & E said it was the film of the century.

but then again, I didn't pay to see either of those films. :heh:

M Knight didn't write this movie. Every other movie that he gets flack for....he wrote. That's the difference.

If this movie bombs it's because of the script. Which was not his responsibility.

Can people stop giving him credit for Devil? He didn't direct that shyt.

He came up with the idea for Devil though. I think that is where his talent lies, he comes up with decent concepts but more often than not he fails in the scriptwriting and directing of those concepts.
Devil worked because he farmed it out to an independent writer and director.

Yes, the basic ideas behind movies like The Happening, The Village and even that Lady in the Water monstrosity are good ones. But once Shyamalan starts fleshing them out and writing the scripts he turns his intial concept in hot dog shyt.

The Village and The Happening both sucked. Regardless of what Rotten Tomatoes has to say about it.

the village was a good idea but i find that ish hard to believe...

happening and lady in the water were fukking horrible..everything about it was trash...even the story was :birdman:

just because you come up with good ideas doesn't make you talented..execution is by far the most important factor

And most of his ideas were ripoffs

The Happening = Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Sixth Sense = An episode of Are you afraid of the dark
The Village = a teen novel "Running Out of Time"

But I mean...you can't really knock the guy. Everyone in Hollywood does it.

Spielberg had Alfred Hitchcock turning in his grave with Disturbia

Will Smith came up with the idea/premise.
M Knightco-wrote it with Gary Whitta (Book of Eli).

M Night touched up the story after Gary Whitta had already come up with the universe and banged out a first draft on his own. That's Gary's version of the story anyway.

M Night did enough to get a screenplay credit...but there's really no telling how much of the story he actually contributed.

Yea I think Gary seems to not want to take the fall alone on this one lol. I thought it was all him originally now he is like yea it was Will's idea he had written on some scrap paper i did the Script and M Knight helped co-write it.

Let's see how this one plays out for all parties involved.
