That 4 draft picks package doesn’t appeal to him because he isn’t thinking about the future of this franchise, he’s thinking about the future of his job. The rockets package gives them cap relief and flexibility for the future but Thibbs is willing to sacrifice to win now(and by win now I mean make the postseason, not win an actual series, let alone the trophy) to secure his position(job) with franchise.

Glen Taylor is rumored to be selling the franchise in the future. Those draft picks would be a good investment to sell to prospective owners.

It's a risky deal and could go very bad if those picks aren't protected. What would you have Morey do? His team isn't good enough to beat the Warriors. Just give up on the season and let Harden/Paul get older and more flabby?
