Feel this way about cameras. The moment I started getting into film all of a sudden all the prices on all the cameras rose when for like close to 20 years the prices were about half what they were now. Hopefully this incoming depression knocks things back for me

Just one of them things I've noticed because I'd always buy older tech since the jump as gear sluts would move onto the new shiny and offload the old stuff cheaply. Plus by then it was always bugfixed and stable so win/win.
I've spotted it in so many genres now that it has to be a few people moving in, buying up whatever is cheap then reselling at a profit whilst hoarding the inventory because they aren't making any more of this. If someone new/legit comes to sell they see the old prices, stick theirs up at the same and on and on it spins.
Once you speak about it a lot of people notice the same thing because way before digital there were classified ads and thats the comparison as you can spot the shift in the interim. Part and parcel of globalization and expanded market reach combined with part time entrepreneurship looking for a quick flip.
Heck, there was a time when the PS2 dropped and people would beg you to buy their N64 with a box full of games for pocket change. No chance of that these days...
