what do u think is up with mine?

transmission fault sensor showed up…and next day it went away…do i just need fluid

immediately what comes to my bmw trouble shooting mind....

-low trans fluid
-bad trans fluid: fluid is no longer keeping the tranny cool (pause) so the tranny is heating up and tripping the sensor. get new fluid and fluid flush.
-trans fluid is leaking, i had a bad gasket on my eclass so it was leaking tranny fluid and would trip the sensor.
-sensor might be bad, replace it

either way get it looked at, before it gets worse. this is one of those niggling problems (yes i said niggling, because nikkas tend to ignore these type of problems and break the car) that can be fixed for $50 right now instead of $5000 down the road.

if the car isnt limping or going into tranny protect mode (pause) your should be good mechanically.

Take it to get looked at

The Number 1 Reason people's BMWs "cost so much to repair" is because people don't take their shyt to reliable shops for regular servicing + knowing the car and what it needs

Then some shyt happens and now you've got an expensive bill

You can even take it to BMW if it makes you feel comfortable, however, DO NOT PAY FOR THEM TO DO ANY WORK THEY WILL TRY TO BEAT YOU IN THE HEAD

BMW will give you a detailed breakdown of everything that needs to be addressed. From there you can determine what you need and when to fix it, and how much you're going to pay to fix it.

A good example is what just happened with my 2014 F30 the other day. The "breaklight malfunction" indicator kept coming up. I said ok, well I'm out of warranty (I got this CPO'd a few years ago) but I still had a service warranty on it. I take it to BMW. BMW says my entire taillight housing needs to be replaced....for $1400

NEGATIVE :hhh:

What happened is that the Bulb Socket on the inside of the taillight housing got corroded out so even if you replaced the bulbs (which is what I did initially myself) eventually it will say that there's a malfunction anyways.

That part, OEM, costs about $60 and about 10 minutes of time to unscrew the housing, replace the Bulb Socket and then place it back in the car.

Boom....saved $1340 :stopitslime:

Also...if the car feels weird...even the slightest rumble...TAKE IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT

Better for you to cop some new sparkplugs from Rockauto (which will again be infinitely cheaper) and take it someplace reliable than to pay $2000 for something that was easily dealt with

And if you can do all these things yourself? EVEN BETTER

Also, if you're going to get a German car...please treat that shyt right

Don't go flying over potholes and bumps in the road just cause you got AWD or good tires

You will fukk your shyt up beyond belief. I see young dudes driving around NYC with brand new Bimmers with the paper plates still on it...FLYING over speed bumps, potholes and dips

My nikka are you crazy? I don't give a fukk who honking behind me, my engine probably worth more than your whole car, slow the fukk down and try to avoid whatever it is you see on the road that might punch your car dead in the chest!

This. I did this with my last 2 cars. paid the dealer to do a full inspection and did the easy stuff myself and had an independent mechanic do the other stuff i couldn't do myself for way less than the dealer.

Bro the shyt that BMW will look you dead in the face and charge you a couple racks for

When you can buy the parts yourself off Rockauto or FCP and take it to a mechanic and have them do it for you if you don't feel liking going under the hood
