The light weight and battery life appeal to me. I don't need an ethernet port or disc drive either. Any got an Air? Pros & Cons? How do the speakers sound?

I have a Macbook Pro that's a few years old. It's on it's way out after a few drops. I also have a Dell Server kicking around with 8 cores and 64gb of RAM which I might use as a client.
So I'm thinking a Macbook Air would be the way to go. Portability on the road, power at home.
But I'm still not convinced that I won't need the Pro's power when working with Photoshop and Final Cut/Premiere on the road.

How much you thinking about selling that Pro for? And What State are you located?![]()
I got a mid November 2010 MacBook Pro 13.3 in in good condition I don't want.
I went from 2010 13" MBPro to 2013 11" 128/4gb/i5 basic model Air .. and i haven't looked back since. My pro had 8 gb ram upgraded, but it still doesn't compare to how fast and efficient the Air is. And the battery life is simply amazing.
I was tight on budget so i went with the basic model. I have to be efficient with disk management, so that is one con, but i have external hard drives and i carry a 16 gb usb stick with me in my carrying case, so it's not all that bad.
The speakers i don't use much, but they are weaker compared to the Pro. I still like the quality and there is this app called SonicBoom that enhances the sound and can you options to customize the sound to your liking. The lack of ethernet was a bummer initially as i like to transmit files between my PC and mac, but the disk drive you will never miss. I have to transfer files on my hard drive and then move it to my PC. I never used the disk drive on my pro so i didn't really care that it didn't include it.
All in all, great product. Too pricey but it will last you a long time. My Pro ran me for 3 years and i sold it to some kid for $450. Which only meant i paid half for my Air. It is lightening fast. I have safari open, chrome open (total about 30 tabs), word open, i'm writing a paper and i have adobe running in the background, and i'm downloading and not even a hiccup in performance. The new OS Mavericks has been optimized for the latest air model. It's investment for sure. But in 3 years when something better has come along, you can sell your current open simply off the brand name alone. They are pretty delicate though, so make sure you get a good case. I also put a screen protector on the screen, cause i don't like cleaning the screen too much. And i'm always touching the screen so no need to worry about finger smudges.
that shyt must be on the verge of exploding brah. Doesn't it get hot?that shyt must be on the verge of exploding brah. Doesn't it get hot?
Can the air run after effects etc. efficiently?
