A man who admitted to sexually assaulting and impregnating a woman with a “severe or profound intellectual disability” in Illinois will spend more than two decades behind bars.

Isaiah Fields, 25, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office announced on Friday. In 2023, Fields sexually assaulted a woman who was a resident of Marklund Home, an assisted living facility in the far western Chicago suburb of Geneva.

“On or about August 1, 2023 through September 5, 2023, Isaiah Fields sexually assaulted the victim, who he knew had a severe or profound intellectual disability and was unable to give consent,” the state’s attorney’s office said in a statement. “The victim was a resident of Marklund Home in Geneva. It was discovered in April of 2024 that the victim was nearly fully pregnant, and the victim later gave birth.”

Subsequent DNA tests positively linked Fields to the victim’s pregnancy. He pleaded guilty in January to aggravated criminal assault. According to prosecutors, he faced a “non probationable six to 30 years of imprisonment.”

Fields had also agreed to a sentence of one year in prison after pleading guilty in a separate criminal sexual abuse case, the state’s attorney’s office said. That sentence will be served consecutively to the 25-year sentence in the case involving the Marklund Home resident.

Fields must also register for life as a sexual offender in accordance, officials said. He will received credit for 308 days already served in the Kane County Jail.

“Today’s sentencing holds Isaiah Fields accountable for his heinous actions and the profound harm he caused to a vulnerable individual who was unable to protect themselves,” Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser said in a statement. “The bravery of the victim’s caregivers, the diligent work of law enforcement, and the efforts of my office ensured that justice was served. This sentence reflects the gravity of his crime, and we remain committed to safeguarding the most vulnerable members of our community from exploitation and harm.”
