Black cabs are a specific type of taxi in London and are VERY specifically separate from normal taxi drivers who don’t drive black cabs.
And this is a UK publication, we know what they mean by saying black cab driver and dont immediately think of race

Cabs in the UK are regular sedans or stationwagons or "Black" cabs but the Black cabs are a mostly London thing.
