...but as a note when talking about construction projects they are typically referring to the budget necessary to construct the building not how much a company makes in profit.

Maybe on a national level but in terms of regionally, I don't know how many folks down here where heavy on the socialism back then. Now out on the west coast, Chicago, NYC, etc sure but I can't think of much of any prominent voices down here in the south. Also his business focus seemed to be synergistic with the whole christian/non-violent protest deal they had going down here. By way of providing local (strategizing / staging point) infrastructure via his properties.
