I highly doubt our nation will leapfrog beyond our European counterparts to provide UBI; when we cant even do free healthcare or college like many of those nations already do. Keep in mind that not a single one of those liberal EU nations have succeeded in maintaining a UBI scheme. Neither have the non-EU Northern nations. I think the only nation on earth that has a consistent, unconditional, and far reaching UBI scheme is Iran of all places. Its a very difficult concept to bring to fruition.
On a local level, i think Alaska's sovereign wealth fund and its yearly payments to residents is the closest we will get. And i think its only possible because its tied to a revenue stream (oil) similar to indians tying their payments to casinos. There isnt a national equivalent

Even if OP drops his paper money tommorow in exchange for gold, it doesnt mean the chinese dude running the laundromat will accept gold bars or lower his prices. Furthermore, even an economy based on real assets will undergoes inflation under the conditions we currently face(ukraine/supply shortages/etc).
