When Chinese, Indians, Italians, Koreans, Mexicans and Russian people celebrate Thanksgiving in America do yall seriously think they're (only) eating turkey, sweet potatoes and macaroni:skip:? That they don't cook their own "traditional" foods as well? What's surprising about a Nigerian family doing the same thing?

Truly some legit disturbed people on this site:dahell::mjlol:...

Wha..? But Thecoli told me...Why didn't they attack her and yell at her for not being Nigerian like them :dahell:?

Damn. Can he just get past the holidays so his parents don't be asking "are you married yet?" "where is girlfriend?" "is no big thing, why don't bring someone?"

My bad. A video of a group of people celebrating thanksgiving together in their home with some incorporating their gastronomy got me heated. The first thought that popped up in my head was how disrespectful it is. I’m outrage and trembling right now :skip:

u can be as sarcastic as you want, but that poster is absolutely 100% correct it is disrespectful at the end of the day

Let me tell you a secret....

NO ONE GIVES A fukk. I hope you don't ever go to a July 4th cookout with Latinos, Middle Eastern people, or Africans. They are BBQin Goat meat, Fowl, Lamb, with Halal food or Jollof rice as a side dish... and other "Non-American" food. You'll probably faint. No need to be sheltered and ignorant for daps lol

funny you bring that up cause I remember many years ago probably on the old site
A thread was made about some Mexican dude celebrating the Fourth of July with a whole buffet of tacos and burritos, etc.
And me, and several others thought it was disrespectful, because the holiday is supposed to be spent eating hotdogs, burgers, and barbecue

The fact that you and others don’t even acknowledge this type of shyt as disrespectful .…. It’s really sad.

They sullied your honor by eating jollof in the quiet of their home amongst their loved ones during the holidays. Evidently you feel aggrieved. Time for you to go get it back in blood, gang :hubie:

Yeah, almost as if that caption was made by whoever “KendraG” is :skip: most likely to reflect/included who she’s spending it with and some of the spread selection - it’s not as if the folks include are going around claiming thanksgiving as their own thing.

What a hill to die on, regardless. Like I said, you brehs slowly turning into insufferable twitter fakkits :hubie:

Log off sometimes

now your sounding ridiculous
she clearly stated, and started out with we are having a Nigerian Thanksgiving - she could easily started out, saying we’re not having Thanksgiving. We’re having a Nigerian feast. (no harm - no foul ; would’ve been all good)

and you can miss me with that Twitter, social media bullshyt
for the record, imma old nikka - and don’t part take in any of that … and that may be where we differ because I believe in tradition, u clearly don’t

and lastly, you’re the one that comes off as miserable because the only thing that has been said is that this is (( disrespectful )) nothing more nothing less and you’re all up in your feelings about that

You saw a video captioned “my first Nigerian thanksgiving” of a presumably black american individual celebrating thanksgiving with seemingly Nigerian friends - in their home - and immediately jump to baseless and unintelligent outrage farming talking points such as “I think it’s disrespectful to make thanksgiving about yourself” - all because folks incorporated some of their gastronomy. Let’s begrudge them!

When told how ironic (I doubt you’d even be able to spot the irony) and insufferable the above reasoning is - you immediately went for loud and wrong assumptions - and did the same in the subsequent post I’m replying to now. Just because you’ve never had a twitter account it doesn’t mean you don’t post like the aforementioned insufferable people. You’d fit right in - as evidenced.

Be easy :hubie:
I have seen many different ethnic groups have thanksgiving food and add some of their cultural food to the menus that pairs well with it to them. That is still respectful imo.

They did not incorporate their food in the video. From what I’ve seen in the video there is zero thanksgiving food, that is a Nigerian family dinner, not a thanksgiving celebration.
:dahell: ...you can celebrate any holiday however the hell you want. Nobody cares. You think people are gonna protest what you do on your own damn time?? These are not laws. I can't even begin to understand how feel disrespected over what people cook in their own fukking house. Do you think they're gonna break into your home and make you eat their food?
I clearly stated everyone has free will. I’m talking about what I consider disrespectful/respectful of cultural/ethnic holidays.

Work on your comprehension
