This is true.
Only bad thing about this is that the authentic hip-hop we knew died with the phasing out of the hood. The struggle created the greatest music and emcees. The environment molded sound that is gone forever
I mean Chicago is still grimey, but atleast NY nikkas actually had musical talent to go along with it

I was in Bed Sty this New Years......and right when the ball dropped there was gun shots outside the window for about 15 minutes. Me and a few others all positioned ourselves in the living room away from the windows till the shooting stopped. I told this to an OG from Queens and he replied that he was in Brownsville in the 90's during one new years eve and they let off shots for 30 minutes when the ball dropped. over a decade later and the new years shots were reduced to 15 minutes.....I dont know if that answers your question.

its not that people miss the city being violent and dirty. The cops were lettin dudes live back then (for the most part). Havin fun is damn near illegal now.
