Some ppl don't have the attitude for it. It's not harder than engineering tho

Word. It's not impossible, going back school can be rough though. Just saying if i could do it over i would have gone that way. Gonna look into taking some units next year before i get any :flabbynsick:ier

so say you have enough dough to do one of these boot camps. you have no experience or training whatsoever. I mean NONE. how good of a programmer could you expect to be after a 3 month boot camp, and what kind of salary could you expect?.....are most of these guys that go to boot camps already experienced coders before hand?....is there guys who go in there as complete novices then come out landing 50k salary jobs right off the bat?.....I don't need 100k. I can live very well off a 60k salary and be happy as fukk.

We caking, but not like corporate lawyers
Yea, but the proportion of law students landing those $160-180k associate roles in big law or corporate law is small as fukk. Even at T14 schools it's still less than half their students. Whether it's big money in tech, finance, law, or consulting...the $120k/yr jobs represent the top 5-10% so really there's no point in lusting after another area when you're looking at the salaries of outliers.

After 3 months you will not be that great but I've been programming professionally for years now and when I compare myself now to even a year ago, there's a huge difference. You just have to have the passion for it. Try it out on your own first (materials are freely available) before even going to the bootcamp. Also I see you have a raptors avatar - in Toronto you are looking at 40-50K starting salary. Only Americans devs (& in NYC and San Fran) specifically make 200K. In most other parts of the world, software development is a modest profession.

PM me if you got any more questions.

Welcome to The Iron Yard -- I know a guy who went there. He then got a job at the same place as a TA for about a year, so he could keep learning and honing his skills. He got a developer job not too long ago. He used to cut meat at Publix and he doesn't have a degree.

That's the easy part

1) have 120k+ lying around
2) think of some shytty idea
3) Hire some indian dude who can barely speak english. Make sure you pay him the whole salary upfront
4)...profit??

:ehh:
Those "indian dude" developers are not what you think. It's a crapshoot that they'll actually code you a usuable application. Also you left out possibly the most important step. Marketing. How will anyone know your shytty idea exists?

I got this raptor aviation cause I lost a bet:mjcry:......I'm from cali. but ok good looking. I'm in school for physical therapy assistant right now. they make good money in my area. but not like this. still contemplating jumping into this. that's why I was wondering if a boot camp could at least land me a good paying job. cause I'm willing to pay if it's gonna be worth it.

bro you are in Cali. devs from all around the world would kill to be in close proximity to that bay area scene. i say it's worth going because the returns could be crazy.

i was just reading this interview of Aston Motes (black dev), about how he joined Dropbox - Employee #1: Dropbox · The Macro - nobody knew it would blow up that big.

but try some programming before going to the bootcamp first though, that's the only real way you will know if you have an affinity for it. check this thread out - http://www.thecoli.com/threads/deve...d-careers-thread.116488/page-46#post-20958549
