Man that's the best way to go about it. I'm not the type to completely dismiss scripture because we all know there were hidden hands behind what we see now. Best believe though i read history along with scripture to put things in context and listen to different view points to come up with my on conclusions instead of blindly agreein with what stirs my emotions.
