Currently reading this book but over the past couple of years I've adopted a survivalist mentality.

IMO if you can ignore the conditioning that you have to keep up with the Jones' you can still develop a strategy to survive and eventually thrive. I don't have children but I don't think it's something that can't be done given the info we have available today.. If this chick is savvy enough to start a gofundme then she can figure out ways to cut her expenses, save, and invest. All it takes is a little sacrifice.

This is why I firmly believe teaching a Man (or Woman) to fish is the best solution.... But are they willing to actually put in the time and effort to learn marketable skills and put in the hard work every day to put food on the table? There are more challenging jobs than "Can I take your order" but is she up to the task and does she have the mental fortitude to excel in them?

I will keep saying this so eventually it sinks in, but it was Wille Lynch's dream to mentally enslave and cripple Black people and evolve beyond the physical shackles. His descendants succeeded beautifully. I bet you no matter what skills you arm this Woman with she will have the same dependent mentality she was born with. Unless you reprogram her psychologically no amount of money or training will solve her condition.

What we needs is Black news networks, Wholly Black owned media, Small black enterprise and economic collaboration. It is the only way to treat this condition. There is no other cure.

I'm trying to muster empathy for this woman, but I can't as she is a grown adult and should be ready to deal with the consequences of her actions. She wasn't tricked or coerced with getting with the dude, that was all on her. There's tons of single parents who do great in similar circumstances and raise their children properly to be productive members of society...

I don't understand your rant. If it's on TV it's probably scripted to an extent. Her apt wasn't shytty. Her hair was done up. She dressed okay but girl shyt is cheap. She ain't look poor.

The Chinese and Mexicans seem to have no problem surviving on this kind of money. See them do it everyday. This proves that CACs have truly succeeded in making us less resourceful, independent, less innovative. We used to do it too in the deep south back in the day.

The worst part about all of this is this Woman nor any other Black person in this environment has retained our ingenuity and ability to hustle that we displayed in prior to integration. Blacks used to be a lot broker than this.

This supports my belief that the end of segregation was actually meant to knock us back another 100 years in progress when we thought it would be the exact opposite.

My grandmother has survived on this kind of money when she was younger and is 80 years old and strong as an ox. There was no frozen tv dinners in the mid to late 1940's.

We need to wake up and see this is beyond this individual Woman's life decisions, this is a deliberate condition set upon us systemically. Our minds have been crippled, this is far worse than any sort of economic oppression.
