@BerniceKing
The concept of reparations is not based on race! It is based on status.
In his book ‘Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community?’ in the chapter ‘Racism and The White Backlash,’ my father,
/search?q=#MLK, stated, "A society that has done something special against the (descendants of slaves) for hundreds of years must now do something special for him, in order to equip him to compete on a just and equal basis."

@AfricanaCarr
Doesn't his nativist construction of blackness turn its whole back on Dr. King's global vision of social justice, especially as articulated in his concept of "The World House?" Wouldn't Dixon's zeal for this idea contravene Dr. and Ms. King's lived solidarity politics?

@BerniceKing
Thank you, Professor Carr.
I share my parents’ belief that all people are interrelated, interdependent, and interconnected and join in their global “World House” vision for justice.
I think that reparations includes economic repair, educational repair, psychological repair, etc. And I believe that repair should take into consideration what nation inflicted the harm.
To that end, for people of African descent across the globe, reparations, in various forms, may come from Denmark, France, the United States, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Portugal, etc.

Marcel Dixon is about his business of being about Black American business. He should run again and take the do-nothing John “fish fry” Clyburn’s seat because that’s all he has had for his constituents damn near 30+ years, a fish sandwich. Marcel Dixon is the next generation of Black politics in this country. I respect him immensely - Marcel Dixon For Congress

It’s sickening that the current democrat rep Jim Clayburn doesn’t support this position

@Coach_Moore_FP
He is spot on and also there are a lot of White people in America who are 1-2 generations removed from those handouts given to their parents/grandparents and they are still reaping the benefits of them.
Wealth compounds. That’s economics and finance 101

@hotc4fun
Reparations are a function of justice, not status or ethnicity. Ethnicity is a determining factor for eligibility. Repair and restoration are the objectives. Immediate cash payments will address the critical need for resources in our community. Then more can be corrected. FBA-B1

Reparations is a good cause to support, but this is not the person to amplify, respectfully. He and his misogynistic ilk want to delineate from black immigrants and refers to them as “tethers”, while advocating that black Americans aren’t of African descent.

With respect… this is the one time Marcel has gotten it right. He gets it wrong and is antithetical to King’s overall message most of the time.
