Because these last few generations have produced very few elite mc's worth carrying the torch. It's not like when Snoop, Nas, Pac, Jay etc came on and made better on the foundation that past rappers laid. Then the late 90's early 2000 rappers like Jadakiss, DMX, Luda, T.I., Jarule, Feminem were cool but didn't surpass their older competition and kinda faded into obscurity. Since then the new commer classes have been even more slack.

That's why we still have relevant 40 year old rappers because they are still the peak of the genre. It's the body of work and skill that carries forward for a legendary career not hits and fame which is fleeting. Hence why we still wait for a Jay and Nas drop.

All these nikkaz chasing hits ain't gonna have long term careers when it's all said and done they fade with whatever wave they rode in the game. The art of crafting albums is lost on many. The long term mentaliy is not understood. It's a revolving door of mediocre rappers and disposable music now.

This.

The older heads understand both the artistry and business sides of the game better than the young'ns.

of course old heads can still thrive because the youngins not doing anything the old heads can't mimic...I mean how hard is it to dab and recite dumbed down nursery rhymes over trap beats? :manny:

Thats top secret information
Are you guys reading this? Is this guy fukking serious? HAHAHAHAH

Eric Sermon is in EPMD. Where the fukk do you think the E comes from? Parrish, the other half, they are the same fukking age breh :snoop:

You are easily the dumbest newest poster we have. You didn't get in anyone's chest, you are just an idiot :dead:

:snoop:

Fool.....I was talking about EPMD..Not Eric Sermon.....U posted music of E when he was in his 30's...which goes against everything I'm speaking on. Why post music E did when he was in his 30's when thats not the topic??

On the other hand when EPMD dropped their last album they were both in their 40's and No one cared...thats what I'm talking about fool. Thats the topic

and your an idiot for thinking I didnt know what the E from EPMD meant....Instead of jumping in my convo posting music of 30 year olds u should have stayed on topic.

It's cuz of the internet and older rappers more willing to get on commercial trends and stay with the times (and they're only able to know what's relevant and hot because of the internet and the wealth of information and data mining available to them through social media)

:snoop: Clearly you didn't and are trying to save face....you can't move the goal post because your original post you put ZERO thought into.

Don't try to muddy up the water and ask why people are referencing the 2000s, when that is what *YOU* put....these are YOUR WORDS

It was kinda sad watchin Redman, EPMD, Rev Run , DMC , KRS One, Rakim, Melly Mel and Ice T put out albums and songs that no one cared about in the 2000's. ( Although Too short did make noise with "Blow The Whistle")

I just named songs and albums all those people put out in the 2000s, none of them were 40 then. So don't ask why people are bringing up when these artists were in their 30s when it was you who named the 2000s :snoop:

this is a bad thing.

it goes to show how stagnant hip-hop has become on the mainstream level. and it trickles down & affects the quality of the indies & underground as well.

rappers putting out bad music 10 years past their prime and achieving success from it, does nothing but scream POLITICS.

f*ck hip-hop. I'm glad I didn't grow up with the same ole stale rappers shining all thru elementary/middle/high school/college.

what a shame.

Its a beautiful thing tho....The 2000's had it looking as if a rappers career was dead by the time they hit their 40's. Seeing Vanilla Ice and Flava Flav resorting to low brow reality TV for relevance made it seem as if u didnt get your Will Smith or Ice T or Queen Latifah on and did a transistion from rapper to actor...it was a wrap for U....Thsi decade proved thats not the case.

Exactly...u posted music of 30 year olds....Not 40 year olds. U went off topic. The title says 40+ and u posted 30 year old rappers.

Atleast u admit that u went off topic...

No one went off topic unless you want to say YOUR VERY FIRST LINE was going off topic...

I posted music of 30 year olds because you referenced them by bringing up the 2000s....don't leave the quote out this time simpleton

It was kinda sad watchin Redman, EPMD, Rev Run , DMC , KRS One, Rakim, Melly Mel and Ice T put out albums and songs that no one cared about in the 2000's. ( Although Too short did make noise with "Blow The Whistle

EPMD had a single in rotation in 2000 with Redman, Eric Sermon solo has a hit song in 03, I listed tons of other references of these 'old rappers' you said had no buzz.

Your response is 'They are not 40 years old' :snoop:

Relevant rappers in the 2000s that were 40+

Dr Dre
Jay-z
Too Short

the BANDS beat could've went to a better rapper and a classic song could've came out of it. the fact that juicy j of all people. randomly became a relevant solo artist in 2k14 or whenever, goes to show how dead hip-hop is. smh. its worse than the 2chainz flukey phenomenon.

nikkas in paris is WICK-WICK-WACK.

"all the way up" is okay. its a c-list club banger at best in a respectable era.

Fabolous, Pusha, and Nas are the only ones in that 40 year old range that people actually care about. Most people don't even know they're 40/close to 40. nikkas like Jay, Jeezy, Rozay, 2 Chainz, 50, and etc sound too dated on their new shyt. Juicy J be spittin some hot shyt every now and then though, 50 too
