This is true but when you have a part of your voting base that is more passionate about abstract concepts like cultural appropriation, Egyptian gods being casted as white people, trigger warnings, twitter witch hunts, and the destruction of the 1st Amendment, then you may have a problem.

Looking at the voting numbers and comparing against 2012, and 2008...it's clear that there was no grand shift or uprising on the right. But rather, there was a growing discontent and apathy on the left, compounded by a distrust/dislike of Hillary.

Essentially, the left had a mid-term like turn out during a presidential election.
