They arent saying the silent part out loud to why that is. Imagine how many tribes and groups from across the continents experience this where they've been wiped out from history, literally.
Disease did most of the job for Europeans. They didn't have to go to war as much as Natives died from diseases like small pox, and Natives wanted to assimilate into European society because they were trading with them. Then Europeans got the courage to move the remnants of the natives to reservations where they could be controlled. Giving natives control of casinos is still a play in their book when the money is still controlled by Europeans.
Even when you look down in central and south America you see how natives assimilated with the Spanish and took on their religion of Roman Catholicism. They fought a little bit, but after a while they just wanted some peace, the fight left them.
I know the largest battle within the last 500 years before the civil war was close to where I'm from in Alabama. Hernando DeSoto and his people fought Chief Tuskalusa and about 2000 natives.
