I watched a DMX doc where he was negotiating a deal. They asked X if he'd like to go over the deal before he signs, he said nah let's just sign. His lawyer had to step in with the :dahell:"nah let's read it first"

It was so depressing. Soon as he signed it they told him how much had to come out to cover his child support and lawyer fees for prior cases. X just looked defeated from beginning to end. And this was vet DMX...I can't imagine what he left on the table in his prime just not giving a fukk.

IMO they took advantage of him something crazy.

remember ....it wasnt as much information on music biz in the 90's..thats why you trusted your lawyer

I don’t think he’s dumb. It’s just the recklessness of youth.

Atleast Cam learned from his mistakes and turned into a successful businessman just two albums later.

He’s been about his business since.

Yep Cam whole persona is a goofball who says crazy shxt but the way he structured and built dipsets brand shows he’s far from a dumbie….He fukkd up early enough in his career where he could learn from it and level up…

But as long as there are young hungry impressionable starving artist this will continue to happen to some degree even if the current system changes….And this is regardless of race/ethnicity…The focus will be on us because black people have always moved the needle culturally and the slick way the media perpetually plays us as victims but best believe these cacs do each other dirty in a heartbeat..There is nobody more bitter than a old washed up rock artist who is forced to tour 300 days a year cause they have to split royalties 7 ways, that is if they didn’t sell it off from being in debt from supporting their bad coke habit…

Is this an entertainment industry phenomena or across the board in Black business.

When Napster and Mp3's hit around '99, artists were crying and complaining about the potential loss of wealth.

I symapthized until I saw how rappers made money off of working people then spent it all on video hoes and jewelry..they rubbed their wealth in peoples faces and disrespected their regular poor fans.

Thats why I never gave a shyt about piracy.. :camby:

Yeeeeeah it might be time for another artists selling their publishing thread. I neeeever thought I’d hear a My neck my back remake done in a major companies commercial. It’s only going to get crazier.. I mean Ante Up by MOP has been in multiple commercials at this point. These artists must be hurting out here :francis:
