I've not played too hiphop these past 12 months but the ones I have like 4:44, DAMN, Kod, More Life, Mick Jenkins, Vince Staples, Tyler The Creator, Jim Jones, Kodak Black, Future, 2 Chainz, Dave and J Hus and more all have very different sounds.

From my understanding there's like a new subgenre called mumble rap with a bunch of midgets making monotone ignorant music that is actually supposed to sound similar. Like minimal techno, where the difference is in the minimal details.
