On KRS One's nose, eating sunflower seeds.
In my basketball experience, the best one on one players weren’t always the best player on the team. You would think so, but some dudes can play better in 5 on 5. You got some dudes who kill in half court games, but are trash during fulls. If there was a 1on tourney in the ASG, it most likely won’t be a superstar who wins.

1 on 1 and 5 on 5 can be two different worlds

If there was an NBA 1 on 1 tournament I might put money on Cam Thomas :skip:
True.

Driving to the hoop is more difficult when you ain't got shooters spotted in the corner.

Suspect handles become more exposed as well.

That's not a NYC thing
Exactly . If you ask someone to play 1on1 in Houston, the most consistent/universal thing they may say is make-it-take-it/“winner’s out”, but otherwise it’s just hooping… with however many dribbles, rebounds, what have you.

In a camp environment its clear why they put rules in place (i.e. 5 second shot clock) to work on certain skills (or just to speed things along :skip: ) but basketball is so circumstantial that 1on1 in that context can be meaningless when translated to the actual game.

I.e. Luka and SGA will take however many cotdamn iso dribbles they want in an nba game

Pro Hoops is not a game of 21. :unimpressed:
or a dunk contest

or a 3pt contest off the racks

or a skills challenge

But we still have them, because the all star game is more than just a regular game of basketball :stopitslime: you ain't even try to think this through

the best player 5v5 isn't necessarily the best player 1v1*

Ain’t no necessarily about it. It’s apples and oranges

Only nggas that don’t hoop would be surprised. I even side eyed the title. I can’t definitively tell you Jokic would beat Caris Levert 1 on 1 my boy

Which is why I don’t even want this. We are at the peak of sports discourse being led by non hoopers. Just disingenuous absolute shyt takes. So the minute a highly regarded player loses to a lesser one—-which would happen a lot— they’d be ready to disregard his entire career accolades. No, no, no. It’d be annoying and would not be respectful of the craft it could literally ruin the game.

‘And the 2025 finals MVP Jayson Tatum!’

‘lol Don’t care, you lost to Jordan Poole’
