Man i used 2 laugh when oldheads talked about hip hop needing 'gatekeepers'. How could you police sumthin tht was so accessible, especially when u dont even need a record label now 2 suceed. Them old heads just mad tht they time is up, n they dont wanna accept it, i said. Now i still believe tht is a big reason why they say what they say, but i didnt think there was any weight to their complaints.
Tht is, until i saw this clown ass dude in the video above. 10, 20 years ago this dude woulda brushed off, laughed at, be given tha side eye. But the accessibility of hip hop tht i mentioned earlier is a blessing and a curse. Dont get me wrong, i understand tht from a logical standpoint it makes sense. There are billions of ppl on social media, and if u make music tht appeals 2 a big enuff target market, u can gain sum popularity and potentially eat. But a part of me cant help but resent tha fact tht a clown like this can get shine. Call it hatin, i honestly dgaf if u do. The sad thing is there r lil nikkas out here, listenin 2 this shyt n thinkin this shyt is cool, n its clownish.
