A white man from Staten Island has recently been arrested and charged for preparing to sell more than 2,500 cartons of untaxed cigarettes. Some are comparing this man’s minor punishment to the death of Eric Garner, a black man who died at the hands of police, reportedly on suspicion of selling untaxed cigarettes in the same area.

Michael Zekry was being watched by police ever since May of 2014 and authorities finally stopped him while he was in his van in November. The 67-year-old bragged about his illegal business plan to officers.

“I go to Virginia every 10 weeks,” Zekry told police regarding where he purchased his large supply of cigarettes. In Virgina, cigarettes are sold at one third of the price they sell for in New York.

“I make $5,000 to $7,000 on a load, a carton sells between $40 to $50; you got a good one! I’m out of business now,” he added.

Officers found some cartons in his van, but once they searched Zekry’s home, they found 500 more. In total, that is about 517,200 ‘loosies,’ according to the New York Post.

If he would have sold his entire supply, his earnings would have amounted to $150,000 of a loss in city and state tax revenue, authorities reported.

Zekry was charged with tax fraud and faces up to four years in prison, according to law enforcement.

Like Zekry, Garner also had a history of selling untaxed smokes. And in July, when he was confronted by Officer Daniel Pantaleo on the streets of Staten Island, many say it was over cigarettes. But obviously, even if Garner was caught distributing cigarettes, his outcome was much different from Zekry, who was not only making a killing with his scheme, but also quickly admitted to his crime.

Garner was attacked and choked to death by police as a result of the confrontation. Some even within the government see Garner’s death as being unjust.

“For someone to die over breaking that law, there really is no excuse for it,” Kentucky Senator Rand Paul said on MSNBC a couple weeks ago.

The several protests executed all over the country are also indication that it is quite ridiculous that a white man caught for one crime can result in a possible four year sentence, while a black man committing the same crime can result in death.

With blacks, even if its a misdemeanor, they will still use excessive force. Even shoot at a car with only women and children. Beat down old black women for traffic violations like that state trooper in California. Arrest an A honor student for jay walking because she talked back.

But...this chick is captured alive. http://www.thecoli.com/threads/woma...un-at-people-while-wearing-body-armor.279200/

In 2015, we need a serious discussion about the police.

Because bad policing comes from the fact there is no consequence for their actions.
