If you're not a paid athlete, I guess you gotta talk White to make it in America, or get lucky. Then some of them gotta sound White too, or at least think White, if they wanna be commentators or announcers. I guess this goes for actors too, these days..

So, she just insult these women by calling them “Ghetto” as a celebration. Some Black people have a sense of masochism when comes to the use of negative words/labels man.

I thought "Ghetto Girl" got replaced by "Hoochie Moma" in the 90's... guess she tryna bring it back. Then it went to "Sleeze" and "Hoodrat". If they hit the streets, got on drugs and became prostitutes, it was "Skeezer". They may as well kept "Ghetto Girl". But I think "Ghetto Girl" was getting to sound offensive to some brothers, especially if they were living in the ghetto themselves, or had a mother still living their, or in the projects. It was like you could use that term around certain brothers, and some you couldn't, especially if you was on the up and up.

It was the same with "Skeezer" with a few brothers, where I thought they were being too petty and sensitive this time. I could see "Ghetto Girl", but not "Skeezer". Most of those cats were on drugs themselves. But if they were on drugs, and their moms was still in the projects, then it got to the point you couldn't be their friend anymore, and say "Skeezer". I sorta lost a best friend behind that, who was kinda in that category. And we had been using that term for over 10 years. He was the only one that wound up getting offended behind that word. Sometimes I still wanna get on him for that, because I know it didn't offend him when certain other friends of his said "Skeezer" or even "Ghetto Girl". Today he's not doing too well, financially or physically. Most of those ex-Skeezers are probably doing better than he is today.
